About Sam

Sam Orkar believes in offering his patients sound advice that helps them make informed choices. He sees the consultation as key to this and therefore sets his patients and clients at ease for a frank and open discussion from the outset. Sam further believes in achieving excellence in simplicity using a thoughtful application of appropriate surgical techniques and attention to details.

Sam’s private practice covers all aspects of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. He is keen on facial aesthetic surgery including nose reshaping, breast cosmetic surgery as well as breast reconstruction including microsurgical breast reconstruction, and body contouring surgery including weight loss patients.

Sam Orkar qualified from the University of Jos, Nigeria as best graduating student of his set. He completed the Nigerian and West African training in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery and worked as a consultant general and plastic surgeon in Nigeria. He undertook further training at the following renowned plastic surgery units in the UK: The Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, Glasgow, St Andrews Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, Broomfield Hospital Chelmsford, the Queen Victoria Hospital and The McIndoe Centre, part of Horder Healthcare, both in East Grinstead, and completed fellowships in cosmetic surgery, breast/microsurgery and hand surgery. Sam holds an NHS consultant post at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead where he is currently the Clinical Director for Plastic Surgery, Burns and Trauma.  He covers the Medway Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.  Sam’s private practice services are available at The McIndoe Centre in East Grinstead and at the Spire Alexandra Hospital in Chatham.

He is on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery and is a full member of The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, BAPRAS and the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, BAAPS.

Sam Orkar is a devout man, married with four children, always has a smile and a hearty laugh. He enjoys music, photography, travelling and sports.

Sam has made guest appearances on Heston’s Tudor Feast menus and ITV’s post script on lose 30 stone or die.

He has made contributions to Channel 4’s embarrassing fat bodies.
